Based in North Yorkshire, available wherever. Photographing weddings since 2006.
My story started in my dad's darkroom. He was a wedding photographer, and as a boy I'd watch him develop film from the weddings he'd shot that weekend. The light, the moments, the couples' stories unfolding in the trays. For us, wedding photography was as important as any school subject. It was art, craft, and responsibility all at once.
I shot my first wedding as my dad's second shooter in 2006, and I was hooked. Years later I took a break to raise a family, but the love for it never left. Looking back over the calendars I still have, I photographed 140 weddings in the three years before that break alone. As for the decade before that, there were many more, though exact numbers are lost to time. What I do know is that I've been lucky enough to photograph everything from intimate, quiet ceremonies to weddings with hundreds of guests. And through all of them I've learned that the beauty of a wedding isn't in a plan run to perfection — it's in the warmth, the laughter, and the unguarded moments when someone thought nobody was watching.
Your wedding will last a single day. The ceremony lasts minutes. The meal, an hour or two. The flowers, maybe a week. But your photographs are what remain. Besides your dress, photography is the only part of your day that will outlive you, and I take that responsibility seriously.
I'm not interested in chasing moments for the sake of volume. I'm looking for the photographs that carry the feeling of the day, not just a record of it. The key moments, yes, but also the quieter ones. You laughing with Grandma. Your dad pausing at the bottom of the stairs. The way your partner looks at you when they think no one is watching. These are the images that endure.
My approach is calm, observant, and unobtrusive. I don't direct moments unless you want me to. I wait for them to reveal themselves naturally. By focusing on a smaller, carefully chosen set of images, the story of your day feels clearer, calmer, and more complete.
I take on a limited number of weddings each year so I can give each couple my full creative attention. If this way of working resonates with you, I'd love to hear about your day.
